Privacy Policy for Verboros

This Privacy Policy explains how the Verboros mobile application ("Verboros," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use it. Verboros is a vocabulary learning game. We have designed it to collect as little personal information as possible.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what the app needs to save your progress, let you restore it on another device, and run the app (including optional rewarded ads and in-app purchases).

Information you provide

• Email address (optional). If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple to save your progress to the cloud, we receive the email address associated with that account. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we receive only the private relay address Apple generates, never your real one. You can use the app without signing in; sign-in is optional and only enables cloud save and restore.
• Purchase information. If you buy an in-app item, the transaction is processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details. We receive a record of the purchase (what you bought and whether it succeeded) so we can deliver the item and restore purchases.

Information collected automatically

• Anonymous account identifier. When you first open the app, we create a randomly generated anonymous account (a UUID). It is not linked to your real identity unless you choose to sign in with Google or Apple.
• Game progress and activity data. Your in-app progress — such as words learned, levels, scores, achievements, items, and settings — is saved on your device and backed up to our servers under your anonymous account identifier. This happens whether or not you sign in; signing in is what lets you restore that progress on another device.
• Leaderboard handle. So that you can appear on the public leaderboards, the app assigns you a randomly generated handle such as "WonkyPuffin472". It is built from fixed word lists inside the app and contains no personal information. There is no way to type your own name — you can only reroll for a different generated one. Your handle and your score are visible to other players on the leaderboards.
• Diagnostic and error data. When the app crashes or hits an internal error, it records a technical report so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the error type and message, a stack trace (the list of code locations involved), the app version, the platform and operating system version, whether the error was fatal, how many times it has happened, and the times it was first and last seen. Reports are stored under your anonymous account identifier and sent to our own servers. They are not sent to any third-party crash-reporting or analytics service. We do not collect your device model, phone number, IP-based location, or the contents of your game data in these reports, and an app that is working normally produces no reports at all.
• Advertising data. Verboros offers optional rewarded ads that you choose to watch in exchange for in-game rewards. To serve these ads, our ad provider (Google AdMob) may collect a device advertising identifier, IP address, and basic device information for the purposes of delivering ads, limiting how often you see them, preventing fraud, and reporting. We serve non-personalized (contextual) ads and do not use this data to build an advertising profile of you or to track you across other companies' apps.

Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect your name, photo, contacts, or precise or approximate location. Verboros has no field anywhere for you to type a name, so no name of yours ever reaches our servers or the leaderboards. The app contains no banner or forced ads, no analytics SDKs, no third-party crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party trackers beyond the ad provider described above. The diagnostic reports described above go only to our own servers.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above only to:

• Save your game progress on your device;
• Sync and restore your progress across devices when you sign in with Google or Apple;
• Show your generated handle and score on the public leaderboards;
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
• Serve the optional rewarded ads you choose to watch and grant their in-game rewards;
• Process in-app purchases and restore previously purchased items;
• Diagnose crashes and errors, and fix bugs and stability problems;
• Operate, maintain, and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How Information Is Stored and Shared

• On your device. Game data and your session are stored locally on your device.
• Cloud sync (Supabase). Your anonymous account identifier, linked email (if any), leaderboard handle, game progress, and diagnostic error reports are stored on our backend, hosted by Supabase, which processes this data on our behalf. See https://supabase.com/privacy.
• Sign-in providers. If you choose to sign in, authentication is handled through Google Sign-In, governed by Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy, or Sign in with Apple, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
• Public leaderboards. Your generated handle and your score are shown to other players of Verboros. Nothing else about you is published, and no personal information appears there.

Advertising

We use Google AdMob to serve optional rewarded ads. AdMob is a Google service, and its handling of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We serve non-personalized ads, which are targeted using contextual information rather than a profile built from your activity across other apps. AdMob may still process limited device data (such as a device identifier and IP address) to deliver ads, cap frequency, prevent fraud, and report performance. You can reset or limit your device's advertising identifier in your device settings. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before serving ads.

We share information only with the service providers above as needed to run the app, or where required by law. We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local data is removed when you uninstall the app.
• Cloud data (your synced progress and linked account) is retained while your account exists.
• Diagnostic error reports are kept only as long as we need them to investigate and confirm a fix, and are deleted once the underlying bug is resolved.

How to delete your account

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: open Settings (the gear icon on the main menu), scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. This works for both signed-in and guest accounts.

If you have already uninstalled the app, email us at privacy@verboros.com from, or referencing, the email address linked to your account, and we will delete it for you. We aim to complete emailed requests within 30 days. Guest accounts have no email address or other identifying information attached, so we cannot locate them from an email request — they can only be deleted in the app.

What deletion does

Deleting your account immediately removes your progress from your device and schedules the account for deletion after a 7-day grace period. If you signed in with Google or Apple, you can sign back in during those 7 days to cancel the deletion and restore your progress. After the grace period we permanently erase your email address, your Google or Apple sign-in identity, and your account metadata.

Anonymized gameplay statistics may be retained. Records such as your game progress, scores, achievements, and any diagnostic error reports are not erased, but once your account identifiers are removed they are no longer associated with your email address or sign-in identity. We also retain purchase records where we need them for tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and authenticated access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

6. Children's Privacy

Verboros is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@verboros.com and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@verboros.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date.
